Best Affirmations For Life (I Mean Scrapbooking)

When looking for the best affirmations to use for the wildly popular post on making origami scrapbooking stars, I looked no further than the master himself….Tony Robbins. Usually, I can only take him in small doses, but man those doses pack a punch. So here for you are some of Tony’s best affirmations:Continue reading

Still Learning Digital Scrapbooking

Still Learning Digital Scrapbooking

I’m still delving into the world of digital scrapbooking and learning the dread Photoshop. Probably not the easiest choice, but it’s what I have…so, I’m slogging through. I’m about 1/2 way through the Scrap Girls videos. Boy, there’s a lot of detail. And I can see right away that my early efforts are going to fall way short of my perfectionist benchmark. I will cut myself some slack though and muddle on through. Continue reading

How Hard Is Digital Scrapbooking?

How Hard Is Digital Scrapbooking?

Recently, one of my readers asked me how hard digital scrapbooking is. The short answer is ‘It depends’.

Sorry to be so colorfully vague, but there’s a couple of things to consider.

Your computer and your comfort level.

I’ll address the first two here.Continue reading

Organize My Digital Scrapbooking Files : Or My Digital Life, Really

Organize My Digital Scrapbooking Files : Or My Digital Life, Really

Since I’ve decided to switch to the digital scrapbooking world, I’ve come across the dilemma of how the frilly heck do I organize my digital scrapbooking files? For me this is just a small subset of my whole Oh-my-God-I-need-to-organize-my-life-now-before-I-go-crazy process. It is overwhelming, terrifying, and a big relief all rolled up into one.

You are probably wondering how this can possibly be a relief.

I am what can loosely be termed a ‘stuffologist’. I have that section of my brain that always sees the ‘potential’ of an item. And since I’m pretty darn handy, I have gathered a lot of ‘stuff’. Useful stuff, crafty stuff, brilliant stuff, interesting stuff, stuff in my head….you get the idea.

The flip side of all this useful stuff is that I can get overwhelmed by it if I let it pile up. Especially all the stuff that’s rattling around in my head. So I’ve been purging. Doing the ‘Mind Sweep’. It is amazingly liberating. I already feel 20 pounds lighter just by getting all that crap out of my head and into an IN box of sorts. This is all part of my 2nd attempt to get David Allen’s [easyazon-link asin=”0142000280″ locale=”us”]Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity[/easyazon-link] implemented into my life. I am determined to get more ‘black belt’ about being productive in a stress-free way. As opposed to being crippled and overwhelmed by the sheer volume of stuff in my life.

I don’t expect this to be quick. But I do expect to get better at it the more I practice.

I’m still in the collecting phase and just starting to tease out the kinds of tools I want to use to keep this system running.

There are a lot of different kinds of tools out there that can help you organize your digi stuff.

For my life stuff, I’ve been using Evernote. And it’s actually the tool I’m using to organize everything. From car service recipts, to links to tutorials, to errands list and everything in between. My only complaint about it is that it doesn’t have any kind of scheduling option.

But back to the organizing of the digital scrapbooking files.Continue reading

Digital Scrapbook Tools : Photoshop Brushes How To Use

Digital Scrapbook Tools : Photoshop Brushes How To Use

Brushes? We don’t need no stinkin’ brushes.

Or do you? Well, as it turns out, brushes are one of those under-utilized digital scrapbook tools that can really save you time. Here’s a couple of New Yorker graphic types that will walk you through some brush basics. The first is for Adobe Photoshop, the second is for Gimp (for those who don’t have the extra moolah needed to afford Photoshop). Gimp is free and it runs on both the mac and the PC. Adobe lawyers look away. And why the frilly heck is Photoshop so blinkin’ expensive anyway? <sheesh>Continue reading
