Tuesday Tutorial : Scrapbook Paper Bag Album

Tuesday Tutorial : Scrapbook Paper Bag Album

The scrapbook paper bag album is the perfect beginner scrapbooking project. They are easy to put together and relatively quick. The only caveat here is that paper bags are not acid free. So if you choose to do this, use either duplicates of your photos or prints from a digital camera. You could probably spray it with acid free spray to add a longer shelf life.

Scrapbook Paper Bag Album : The Video How To

This paper bag album has a family theme and it’s the first paper bag album I’ve made that hasn’t gone into the trash! For a twist on the classic paper bag album, I bound the bags vertically and used them as envelopes for really huge tags! There is tons of space in this album for photos, journaling and memorabilia.

I’m trying something new with the videos I’m finding. I’m transcribing them enough to get a tool/materials list. And here is what she used:

Creative Ideas For Scrapbooking : Need Some?

Creative Ideas For Scrapbooking : Need Some?

Need some creative ideas for scrapbooking? I found this video on YouTube and what I like about it is:

  1. She gives a list of materials used! Absolute Gold….boy do I wish others would do this.
  2. It’s quick to put together. Another bonus point for that. Some projects can be so elaborate and time consuming.
  3. It’s beautiful and surprisingly full of pictures….kind of like those nested Russian dolls….it keeps unfolding.

Wedding Scrapbook Album Ideas : Tis The Season

wedding scrapbook album ideasIt’s rolling around to the wedding season and time to comb the internet for some fabulous wedding scrapbook album ideas.

There’s usually a ton, but here’s two that I found. One is more of a basic ‘how to organize’ kind, while the other is more of a confession of procrastination (which I know absolutely nothing about <smirk>)Continue reading

Scrapbooking Your Baby’s First Year

Scrapbooking your baby’s first year is one of those activities that get a lot of women into scrapbooking. Here’s a really nice article from Parents.com

Scrapbooking Your Baby’s First Year

Highlights Album

The designer: Jennifer McLaughlin of Whittier, California created a first-year “highlights” album for her daughter Ainsley.

The concept: Design an album that covers highlights in these areas: growth chart (personal changes or milestones), places you go, people you love, and things you do. This album requires only four photographs each month, as well as four journaling blocks.

Pre-baby checklist

  • Choose an album. Jennifer used a 12 x 12-inch post-bound album for her project (Note: When you use a consistent color and design scheme, it’s fun to use an album that coordinates with the overall feel.)
  • Create a title page and dedication page.
  • Choose a design scheme. Jennifer used Ainsley’s quilt as a starting place for her page design. Note how the color blocking on each page is drawn from the colors and patterns on Ainsley’s quilt.
  • Preassemble monthly album pages, designating an area for the photos and journaling.
  • Set up a journaling template in your word-processing program. Since Jennifer knew her journaling squares would be the same size each month, she set up a text box and saved it. She also saved monthly headings and simply typed new information once a month when she updated Ainsley’s pages.
