Doing scrapbook layout with lots of pictures can be a challenge. It’s so easy to end up with a crowded mess. Scrapbooking Layouts & Designs : Simple Or Complicated?

For traditional paper based scrapbookers, there’s no shortage of great scrapbooking layouts & designs. In fact, there’s sometimes too much to choose from. Personally, I like both the page maps¬† and am intensely curious about the Kiwi Lane Designs template system. (they call it “Framing”). I’m going to be exploring a DIY version of this in a future post.

Dabble In Digital

Design by Debbi Tehrani

Graduation pictures from high school, college, and graduate school were the focus of Debbi’s page documenting these important milestones in her life. After converting two photos to black-and-white, Debbi lined up the photos, added digital labels, and printed the collage as one image. Debbi used a coin envelope as a pocket to hold the journaling on her page. For a sneak peek at the journaling, she cut a window in the envelope and added a label holder.

Choose Complementary ColorsDesign by Wendy Sue AndersonSnapshots of her daughter proudly holding an academic certificate were Wendy’s opportunity to document her qualities in fifth grade. Use papers that bring out the colors in your photos. Wendy chose pink and brown for a pretty color scheme that complements her photo collage. For a little variety, tilt your camera before snapping your photo. The angled photo on Wendy’s page makes the photo series more interesting.

What I love about these is that they give you a materials list for each one. Kind of like having a recipe card. Oh how I wish all scrapbooking ideas for graduation had this kind of detail! <big sigh> Are you doing a graduation scrapbook this year? Please leave your comments below.

Coming up with fresh scrapbooking layouts and ideas can be sort of like coming up with a really good meal. We all have our ‘repertoirs’ of both recipes and scrapbook designs, but sometimes it’s nice to break out of your routine and do something different. And since scrapbooking is such a flexible craft, I like to peruse other peoples layouts and modify them to my own style.

This video is a little long, but she shows a nice layout utilizing leftover scraps plus 3 more well put together layouts
