Nine Tips On Scrapbooking

9 tips on scrapbooking

Whether you’re an avid scrapbooker or you’re just starting out, here are nine tips on scrapbooking to help make your experience a fun one!

These nine tips on scrapbooking are in no particular order, just pick the ones that resonate with you.

Tip #1.  Create a scrapbooking work area.

Setting up a permanent workspace is ideal when it comes to scrapbooking.  Do you have a spare bedroom, a portion of the basement or some other space that you can utilize for scrapbooking?  You’ll want plenty of surface space (i.e. desk top, table or counter), drawers and a bookshelf.

Tip #2.  Organize your materials.

Utilize plastic milk crates to house your scrapbooking paper.  Place the paper so it’s laying horizontally.  Milk crates can easily be stacked and should be stacked so that the openings are facing you.  Embellishments, such as confetti, sequins, buttons and tiny  flowers can be kept in glass jars.  Scissors, glue, tape and other small items can be kept in the drawers.

Tip #3.  Organize your photos.

As you think of an idea for a scrapbook album, label a manila folder to correspond with the theme.  Place pictures in the folder.  Then when you have time to scrapbook, your pictures are already in one place.

Tip #4.  Purchase supplies on sale.

Many of the craft and hobby retail stores, as well as the online stores, have great scrapbooking sales throughout the year .  You’ll be able to find some great finds, especially if you wait until after a holiday or near the end of a season.

Tip #5.  Keep a look out for cute ideas.

When you’re in a dollar store or at a yard sale, look for items that can be used for scrapbooking.  Some ideas are:  cute gift wrapping paper or gift bags, confetti, stickers, ribbon, books containing inspirational quotes, cloth leaves, rubber stamps, pretty cards and craft supplies.

Tip #6.  Save your scraps.

Utilize a container for scrap pieces of scrapbooking paper, ribbon, etc.  These scraps come in handy if you want to make corner holders for photos or paper confetti.

Tip #7.  Look online for ideas.

There are a lot of great websites that provide awesome scrapbooking ideas.  Check out a few and you’re bound to come across a project that really appeals to you.  Also, when you go to the craft and hobby stores, quite often they supply free printouts of project ideas.

Tip #8.  Set aside time to scrapbook.

Some people have the desire to scrapbook, but find it difficult to squeeze in time for such a hobby.  Even if it’s only one hour a week, schedule a time to scrapbook.  It’s important to take time out of the busyness of life and to do something that is relaxing and fun.  Scrapbooking is a great way to ease stress.

Tip #9.  Take pictures of your finished projects.

As you complete a project, be sure to take a few pictures.  The pictures will help you remember some of the details about the project, should you decided to do a similar project in the future.
